Sometimes, all you need are BIG DRUMS…

July 4th, 2009
EWQL's "Play" being used with Ableton Live

…and that is exactly what you’ll get with my newest work to be posted: “Big Ko Monster”. This short piece is ready for your next blockbuster action film/game trailer, complete with heavy percussive sections while leaving room for that poignant moment when the hero finally understands just how deep the rabbit hole goes before he proceeds to jump in head first!

Love the drums… have you ever considered doing something like this, but adding some industrial style drums in the BACKground? Could make for some very interesting textures.

Makes me want to listen to The Gun Pointed at the Head of the Universe…because sometimes big drums ARE all you need. And to a certain extent, and not to completely get off on a tangent, I would say that music like that is one of the reasons I keep coming back to games like Halo and WOW. Driving a Warthog is much epic-er when On a Pale Horse is playing in the background and while there are some good dailies to run in Grizzly Hills, I mainly quest there just to listen to the music. No real point here, just that I love scores and can’t wait to hear more of what you’ve got!

I’m looking forward to attempting a Grizzly Hills-style track since I now have many of the same samples that I believe Russell Brower, Derek Duke, Glenn Stafford, and Neal Acree used when they created the track. I don’t know which one of them created the Grizzly Hills music specifically though.
